eMeritBox
Integrated motion sensing, a matrix display, a servo, and Flask controls into a Raspberry Pi device that responds to taps and tilt.
Giving a Physical Object a Digital Response
eMeritBox turns tapping and tilting into visible motion on an LED matrix, paired with a servo-driven wooden-fish strike. A Raspberry Pi coordinates the motion sensor, actuator, display, and Flask web interface, supporting both manual interaction and automatic operation.
Python modules separate motion sensing from display updates and audio playback. Tilt changes the movement of virtual balls, while browser controls trigger physical actions through the same device.
Integrating the Hardware
The working prototype combined a GY-25 motion sensor, MAX7219 matrix display, and MG-90 servo. Resolving serial-port and peripheral conflicts, then coordinating concurrent updates, brought the individual modules into one responsive interaction loop.
